This is who we are.
We are Tim and Kara, a moderately young (29), mostly fun (at least we think so!) couple. We have been married for five years, and in that time have grown to love and appreciate one another more and more. Tim is a college professor and Kara works at our own Catholic parish, coordinating education for all of the members of the church.
We enjoy reading, going for walks, watching movies, laughing, sharing meals with friends and family, going to sporting events, seeing plays, and listening to music. We are both Roman Catholic, and the ritual of prayer and worship is a vital part of our lives. Our belief in God helps us to be thankful each day for all of the beauty we encounter, to accept whatever sadness may come our way, and to focus our lives on giving and receiving love. We like to travel, and sometimes will hop in the car on a weekend day just to go explore a new town within a day's drive.
We live in a city that sometimes feels like a small town-often we'll meet new people who already know five of our friends. Our house is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac in a neighborhood that houses people of many different ages and backgrounds. There are lots of children who live on our street. We have plenty of room for our family to grow--four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a finished basement. We have a big, fenced in backyard that is perfect for running around, sports, and even sledding down our little hill in the winter. There is also a little waterfall in our backyard that attracts birds and bunnies to visit! We live 10 minutes from Kara's parents, and close to stores, schools, and parks. Our city has a good variety of cultural opportunities, fairs and events to keep us busy!
We are both lucky to have work that is supportive of family life. We love our jobs, but appreciate that we have the flexibility with hours and time to be there for one another and for our future children. This helps us to keep the needs of our family as the top priority. If we find that we are unable to both work and adequately support the nurturing needs of our family, we also have the financial freedom for Kara to either scale back her hours, or quit her job and focus full time on the family. One of the major benefits of both of our jobs is the tuition subsidies that will allow us substantial choices in providing for the education of our children. Our own experiences of learning and exploring have been so important to us, and we want our children have similar opportunities.
We have great family (who are as excited and ready to welcome a new member of the family as we are) and lots of wonderful friends. One of our favorite things to do is play with the children of our friends and family. We are constantly amused, surprised and moved by the love of these beautiful children. We tried to conceive a child for several years, but when it became clear that was not the path for us, it was a natural choice for us to pursue adoption. We hope and trust in God that we will be blessed to share our life and love with a child, and are excited for this child to have as many loving people in his or her life as possible.
We do not know you, and cannot imagine what you are going through. But we do sincerely care about you, and hope that you have found the support you need to make this decision for both yourself and your child. And we hope that you will take the time to learn more about us.
Peace and blessings,
Tim and Kara
